The concept of a design project necessarily includes the "zoning" of the premises. In the kitchen zoning can be done in many ways: with the help of light, color, decoration materials.
But the most popular way is the combined floor in the kitchen: tile and laminate .. In this tile "responsible" for the work area, and laminate stew in the dining room.
Rules for joining materials
The place of docking of finishing materials becomes a "stumbling block". How to hide an unsightly stitch? Builders offer several options:
1 The pores. There are special pins that are installed in the gap between the tile and the laminate. The most reliable and simple are the slats made of metal (steel, aluminum, brass). But such a detail does not always fit into the design style.
There are also wooden slats - they are more aesthetic in appearance, but also more expensive. In addition, wooden paddles are not suitable for designing a wavy joint.
Alternative is cork substrates. They completely fill the gap between the coatings and form an inconspicuous joint.
The cork acts as a shock absorber, which ensures the reliability of the connection. Cork filler can then be closed with any beautiful wooden bar.
2 Sealants (building foam, silicone, mastic). They make the seam less noticeable, but these materials are short-lived and require certain usage skills.
Important: for this method the laminate must necessarily be laid floating method.
How to combine
How to combine ceramic tile and laminate in the kitchen? Here are some tips that will help you navigate in the choice of color and method of laying combined floors.
Luminous shades of laminate and tiles are suitable for the kitchen facing the north side. In addition, light colors give the room a visual spaciousness and volume. The dark floor will look better in a spacious kitchen. Please also note that the darker floor is more slender than the light one. So, if frequent cleaning is not your way of life, choose light floors.
Large tiles look better in modern kitchens, and smaller ones are great for decorating the kitchen in country style or classics.
The combination of different floor coverings is often chosen in order to make the floor more vivid and interesting. But keep in mind that really only one part (or tile, or laminate) should be bright, and the other should act as a background. It is more convenient to make a bright tiled part of the floor: lay out a drawing, add a tile or select a tile of different colors or sizes.
The combination of glossy and matt tiles is an original solution. You can even combine tiles in different sizes. But the laminate should be as inconspicuous and simple in design as possible.
The smaller the kitchen, the simpler the floor design should be. The abundance of color inserts, drawings or strong contrast of laminate and tile "eat" precious meters. Contrast combination - the lot of spacious kitchens.
Covering tiles can mimic stone, marble, leather even textiles. The more noble the type of tile, the darker the laminate should be. It is the dark color that gives the laminate a luxury and sophistication.
If you use a tile of different colors, then one of them must repeat the color of the laminate. Enough even if it's miniature tiles, woven into the pattern of your tiled floor. This achieves the feeling of a "single" sex.
Choose colors of a tile and a laminate of one "polarity": or both from "warm" scale, or from "cold". The same applies to color. For example, you have gray tiles, then in the color of the laminate there should be a gray tint.
The shape of the joint depends on the style concept and the type of your interior. If the kitchen is dominated by regular geometric shapes, furniture facades are strictly rectangular, and in the dining area is a square table, then the joint is better to choose a straight.
A wavy line at the junction of two floor coverings must necessarily somehow be repeated in the interior. For example, if the general line of furniture facades is also curved. Or you can add the same "wave" on the ceiling. This is convenient if you have two-tier ceilings.
Zigzag at the joint is easier to arrange, if the tiles are staggered. In doing so, pay attention to the direction of the laminate boards. If the kitchen is narrow, then it is better to spread the laminate diagonally - this will give the room a visual volume.
And finally. Remember that floors in the kitchen have to be washed more often than in other rooms. Therefore, it is desirable that the laminate is water resistant, and the tile had a sufficient index of strength.
