Lighting - one of the most important elements of the interior, can dramatically change the visual perception of the room. Therefore, the location and the number of lighting devices are always carefully thought out.
It is a great success to find fixtures that fit organically into the interior. But sometimes it's difficult to find an ideal chandelier, and the table lamp that pleased the eye dimmed and lost its original beauty.
At such moments, the hostess thinks about how to update the appearance of a new or so beloved old chandelier. Let's consider some interesting variants how it is possible to make a decor of a chandelier in own strength in house conditions.
Painting or painting
You can paint both the base and the plafonds themselves. Often the colors are renewed when the chandelier is repaired. After all, in the renovated interior is not always organically fit the old chandelier.
For this, oil and acrylic paints are suitable, and they can be applied both with brushes and with an airbrush (acrylic only).
- The first stage is preparatory. It is necessary to detach the elements we are going to paint. That is, remove the bulbs, cartridges and so on. Then you should get rid of the old paint and degrease the surface.
- Then we prepare the workplace. The best place is an open area or at least a balcony (in other words, any well-ventilated place). The floor is covered with newspapers or a film.
- There should be several layers of paint, each of which must be well dried before applying the next one. As a result, the color should be saturated, and the surface is uniform. Usually, three to four layers are sufficient for this.
You can paint the ceiling in one color, and you can paint them with all sorts of patterns. Do it better with acrylic or stained-glass paints (they perfectly fit on a smooth surface and do not spread). Here everything depends on your imagination and creativity. It can be ethnic motifs, geometric shapes, birds, flowers, in general, everything that the soul desires at the moment.
You can use different drawing techniques:
- imitation of stained glass on glass shades;
- gradient (smooth transition of one color to another);
- volumetric painting (you can achieve by drawing large strokes, it is very beautiful in this technique to obtain flowers).
If you are not sure about your drawing skills, you can use stencils. With them, the most complex drawings are possible!
Decorative decoration of plafonds
In addition to painting and painting of plafonds during the renovation of the chandelier, you can use various decorative materials:
- rhinestones and beads of different shapes and sizes;
- tapes and fabrics;
- artificial flowers, butterflies and countless other materials.
Decorative elements are used already at the final stage of the chandelier transformation. Since after they are attached it will be difficult to paint it, if you suddenly want. The elements are fastened with a glue gun.
It is worth remembering that the chandelier is very hot during operation (when using incandescent lamps). So, decorations need to be fixed with the help of high-quality glue, which will not change its properties with time.
Creating a new chandelier with your own hands
Famous designers and decorators say that an unusual chandelier can be created by anyone. On the Internet, a huge number of master classes from fans and professionals to create unusual chandeliers. Usually, simple materials are used for this, and the process does not take much time.
The most suitable materials for creating a ceiling lamp are paper and cloth. They are in every house, easily amenable to change in shape, are inexpensive. You can also use yarn and yarn or glass (for example, unusual bottles or vases). The most extravagant options for lamps can be made from plastic, cardboard boxes and even from the coffee box!
Starting from scratch is always difficult, so here are a few interesting options below.
Chandelier of threads
An interesting and fairly simple option. You will need a skein of threads, a ball of air and PVA glue.
So, we inflate the ball, then make a through hole in the tube with the needle glue and thread the thread into it. Now thread this ball. This can be done both chaotically and in specific directions, creating various geometric patterns. We wait for the glue to dry out and we break the ball. Such a plafond is not very strong, so pull the ball should be very carefully. With a creative approach, using different textures and thread colors, you can get a very creative and beautiful chandelier.
Chandelier "Cage for birds"
We need thick wire, metal mesh, scissors and artificial birds.
First you need to assemble the skeleton of our future chandelier. To do this, we make two identical rings with a diameter of 40 cm, cut off a piece of metal mesh in a width of 30 cm and a length of 126 cm. We twist the mesh into a ring of equal diameter with our rings of wire and fasten (twisting the ends of the wire to the wire) between them. On one side we attach three wires, connecting them in the center of the circle and slightly protruding beyond the cylinder (at this point our chandelier will be attached to the cartridge). The frame is ready.
Next cut off pieces of wire 40 cm (2-3 pieces). These are the perches for birds. So fasten (thin wire) to them birds and place them inside our cells. The chandelier is ready. You can supplement it with the decor of the outer side of the cage, but everything depends on your imagination.
The most simple and a little strange in this collection. Only the upper platform is necessary, on which the "skirt" is fixed - round pieces of translucent fabric (preferably of light tones) attached in the middle. A fabric for sewing a skirt-tutu or other voluminous loose fabric is good.
Often for the plafonds are sold special frames cylindrical shape. Many masters use them. Not surprisingly, because they are inexpensive, and there is no need to waste time creating them. They are sold in any store for creativity. Such a plafond is often covered with a cloth, but we will consider a more interesting variant - we use braid. At the same time we tie the first braid over the bottom edge of the frame, pull it well and toss it over the top edge, then go back down again.
It's always necessary to skirt the frame with the braid from the same side, so it will be more beautiful. With a single color, only a part of the plafond can be decorated, then you can take a contrasting color. It is advisable to use up to four or five colors, so it will not be too colorful and beautiful.
For fans of travel, you can make a pendant lamp of several small globes. Some of which can be left intact, and the other part can be cut along the equator so that more light enters the room.
You can give a new life to old banks (which, incidentally, can be with convex patterns and different colors), such glass louvres in the loft style will organically fit into any industrial style.
To do this, remove the covers (metal) from the cans and carefully, just in the middle drill holes in them in the middle for the cartridges. Next, a cartridge is inserted and cords-suspensions several such plafonds are assembled into a chandelier, creating a magical play of light in the room. Suspensions can be made of different lengths, so that from the bubble cans you can make a wave or other shape.
Back to the finished frames, in addition to the described options, you can use anything! Pencils, painted flasks, threads and so on. In addition, chandeliers are currently gaining popularity, consisting only of a carcass, which is painted in an interesting color and has a minimal amount of decor.
Another unusual option: you can turn cups and saucers, carefully (with a special drill for ceramics) to drill in them holes and insert the ceiling lights. Great idea for a kitchen or dining room.
The above methods are just a drop in the ocean, there are countless options, and it all depends on your free time and fantasy flight.
